Champadevi Day Hike

The Champadevi Day Hike is a beautiful and culturally rich trail located just on the outskirts of Kathmandu Valley. Rising to an altitude of 2,285 meters, Champadevi is the third-highest hill surrounding the valley and offers a rewarding day hike with panoramic views of the Himalayas, Kathmandu Valley, and lush green hills.

The hike typically starts from Pharping, a historic town about an hour’s drive from central Kathmandu. From there, the trail ascends through pine forests, small monasteries, and peaceful hill paths. Along the way, you may encounter prayer flags, shrines, and occasional wildlife. At the summit lies a shrine dedicated to Champadevi, a revered Hindu goddess, along with a Buddhist stupa—highlighting the spiritual harmony of the region.

This hike is of moderate difficulty, with a steady uphill climb that takes around 3 to 4 hours to reach the top. The descent back to Pharping or onward to Taudaha Lake takes about 2–3 hours, making it a full-day adventure.
