Lokhim Community Service cum Mundum Trek / Pikey Trek

Lokhim village is located in a remote area south of Mt. Everest, about 320 km east of Kathmandu. It is home to Rai, Tamang, Sherpa, and other minority communities who have been living there for centuries. They have their own unique history, language, and culture, but these are now slowly disappearing due to globalization.

To address this situation, the Six Friends Trekking Team has been supporting the Thulung Rai community in preserving their language, culture, and traditions with the help of many friends from around the world.

How You Can Help

  • Help the community prepare short audio and video documentaries in Thulung Rai dialogue to upload on YouTube and their website.
  • Assist locals in writing and documenting their history, culture, and folklore for future generations.
  • Join in their cultural programs to encourage them in preserving traditions.
